LA PUSH RESERVATION

"Hey, I'm Genevieve. Are you a new member of the pack?" she asked, brushing a stray piece of brown bangs out of her eyes.

His eyes went flat, "No, not really." He felt his jaw clench. It had at least been two weeks. At least. Maybe a month. He forced his tone lighter, "You?"

"Not really." Gen looked down at the sand, embarassed.

Brayden looked back to the guitar, restarting where he'd left out on the song. While playing, he looked up at the sky. He didn't want rain to come while he was out playing. That would be bad.

"Where'd you learn to play like that?" Gen inquired, hoping for more conversation.

He shrugged, "I've been playing for a long time." He looked away from the sky to make eye contact, "I got my first guitar for my tenth birthday."

"That's cool." I nodded. "My family's too poor to even own a decent computer." I sighed.

He laughed, "That was pretty random, but okay." He blinked, "I earn my own money. It makes stuff hella easier."

"You have a job, right?" I kicked a pebble with my shoe. "I have one, at some grocery store. Cashier, and it's a bad place for werewolves." I grumbled. "I try to control myself around difficult customers."

"Everywhere is a bad place for werewolves," Brayden said angrily. "We shouldn't exist. It goes against the laws of nature." He curled his hands into tight fists.

I nodded in agreement. "But there are some perks to it...just the good overrule the bad."

"Perks," Brayden scoffed. "We turn into inhuman beasts," He jumped up and pulled a victory fist, "SCORE." He was being sarcastic.

Gen rolled her eyes. "I know that." She stared at the ocean. "I'm saying, don't you like the speed? It feels like you're flying..." She paused, "But I would rather be a human than this."
Quickly changing the subject, she asked, "Where you there when the fight with the bloodsucker?"

Brayden looked confused, and he tilted his head to the right. "I've been in a fight with a bloodsucker yes." He paused, "The one Kara and I fought was tall and had dark hair and..." He hesitated, "....yeah"

"There was another fight?" She growled, frowning. "These damn bloodsuckers.." I muttered.

"Well," Brayden explained. "She was just across the line, and Kara said she wasn't a Cullen. She tried to run away, so we were patrolling the line and she tried to get her arms around me. I got her hand ripped off, but she got it back on when she was fleeing." He sounded irked with himself (xD). "She got away. They're so damn fast."

Gen nodded. "That happened to me...well, the whole pack." she brushed aside a curl.
"This girl, she wasn't a Cullen, attacked me and Jacob..well, she bit him. I was lucky enough that Jake got in the way before she could bite me." She gestured to her crippled leg.

"Ouch," Brayden said, his face twisting up as if he was remembering something painful. "Kara and I went to see Jake yesterday." He looked up to meet her eyes, "He's not doing too well according to Emily."

"I haven't seen him in a week. Been too busy cooped up in the Cullen house." she grumbled, biting her lip.

"The Cullen house!?" Brayden echoed, shell-shocked.

"Yeah. The leader guy sucked the venom out of Jake, and healed my screwed leg."
