"I'll come with you," He said, kind of distracted, his eyes glazed over with debate. He stood up and brushed sand off of him.

"Shall we take your good-as-new car?"

"Sure," He grinned and shook his now-dry bangs out of his eyes. "Lemme get my keys." Brayden jumped up and skipped towards his house, humming a jolly showtune.

Kara giggled, watching him.
Hm. He's been acting weird all day. She thought, now realizing he was being more his goofy self.

He reached into the house and grabbed the keys off the table in the foyer, spinning them around his index finger. Brayden beckoned her with his index finger while pulling up the door to the garage.

She skipped over, looking back over her shoulder at her surfboard. "Will my baby be ok?" She asked.

"Yeah," He shrugged. "Toss it in the back." He opened her door for her and walked around to the other side.

What a gentlemen. xD

She grabbed it, placing it carefully in the back. "Yay!"
She got into the passenger seat, slamming the door.

Brayden started the car and a soft guitar riff came though the speakers. He stretched his arm across the seat and looked over his shoulder as he backed out. He turned onto the road and started to head north. When they stopped at a stop sign, Brayden honked and waved at the people who pulled up beside them. The old man in the car furrowed his brow and stared like Brayden was the weirdest kid he'd ever seen. He snorted and turned back to the road.

Kara snorted, waving to the person on her side. The woman frowned and drove away quickly.

"We rock," Brayden noted, holding up his hand for a high-five.

Kara slapped it, pointing to the small store to the left of her.
"Let's go there."

"Okay," Brayden said, turning quickly into the parking lot and putting the car into park. He reached across her to pop open the door, smiling at her as he did so. He hesitated before opening his own door, stepping out into the unusually lethal heat not only from the sun, but from himself.

Kara smiled as Brayden opened her door, and she jumped onto the black parking lot. She pulled out her money, counting it to see if it was enough for an energy drink.

"I haven't been up here in forever," Brayden marveled, grabbing Kara's hand and towing her towards the store.

Kara blushed, holding onto his hand as he pulled her into the store. The little bell rang when they entered. Kara, this time, pulled him over to the fridges in the back of the store, scanning it for some energy drink cans. "Which one should I get?"

"Whichever you think will make you the most hyper," Brayden said.

"Nicolette, calm down. We've got everything under control. Now just watch the front door for me, and I'll be there in a few minutes."
I started to climb in the house through the window, and winked and gave her a reassuring smile. "It's gonna be okay."

"Whichever is loaded with the most caffeine." Kara said, scanning the shelves for some blue Amp. She got the last can and took it up to the register. A long-haired boy rang it up and she paid for it with her money.

"Caffeine and Kara," Brayden said, shaking his head. "This will definitely be interesting."

"You'll love me hyper, Brayden." Kara said, handing the cashier her money. She opened the register and placed it in, while Kara took her can and cracked it open. She took a big sip, enjoying the feeling of something cold running down her throat, even for a second.

"I'm pretty sure I'll prefer the non-hyper," Brayden joked, stealing the Amp and taking a hefty swig.

"Ugh. Well," She said, pretending to be appalled, taking back the can and giving Brayden a crooked smile. She took another sip and pushed the door open, causing a little bell to ring as they walked out of the store.
