"See?" Gen gestured towards Brayden. "When you guys get like that, I feel that I should leave. But I don't want to."

"Listen, Gen. You're my best friend, and I don't wanna rip your head off yet. But, please -- for your own sake -- just shut up." Kara said, trying not to yell.

"If you don't rip her head off, allow me the pleasure to."

"Not yet." Kara whispered to Brayden. "Maybe another time when she least expects it."

"Like a ninja," Brayden mumbled, nodding halfheartedly.

"Yes, Brayden... like a ninja."

"You guys want anything to eat?" Jake asked, pulling up his baggy sweatpants. "Maybe Brayden wants more cookies?"

Brayden grinned widely, "Maybe we can head to Emily's or something." He blinked innocently, "Don't you miss Emily's cooking?"

"Yeah.." Jake admitted, looking down. "Maybe I can see if any of the pack actually cares whether I'm dead or not."
"What do you mean?" Kara asked, standing up.
"You and Brayden and Gen are the only ones that have come and visit me. Emily sort of did, but she just left some cookies. But that's not her fault, because I was asleep when she came."
"Aw. We're the only ones that came to see you?"
He nodded sadly.

Brayden considered for a moment, pondering, "My trucks out front, if I speed, we could be there in 5 minutes."
